Our Background

How We Got Our Start

Serendipity! Several people had a similar idea at the same time - we wanted to improve our community and get to know our neighbours better.

The impetus was a petition generated by Elphinstone Community Association to appeal for cross walks on Hwy 101 at Poplars Trailer Park and at Wooodcreek Park.

Claire Finlayson is concerned about the dangers to both pedestrians and vehicle drivers at the Oceanview Drive/Highway 101 intersection.  As well, she believes more of us will ride the bus if the crossing isn’t so dangerous and the bus stop is in better shape.

Randi Thomas has created a newsletter to keep us informed on real estate stats for our community and to introduce neighbours to each other.

Sandra Cunningham wants to see a Disaster Recovery Plan in place for our neighbourhood.

“Brenda Bildfell, owner of the Copy Shop, connected us one to another.

At an inaugural meeting at the end of March a few neighbours gathered and we formalized the Association. We created a Board, developed a Constitution & By-Laws draft and started inviting everyone in the neighbourhood to join us!

The benefit of this organization is that when we make appeals to the various powers that be we do so as a group of 140 home owners rather than as individuals.

The first achievement was Notice Boards by the post boxes (thank you Helen Macham). And we are working on several other issues raised by our members. Keep posted and make sure to let us know what is on your mind!

Woodcreek Park Neighbourhood Association is here for you.
